Hiatus on Cordon Bleu?

I will be away for the next two Sundays (and chose to pack and watch the Oscars this Sunday rather than cook). Will you sisters be proceeding forward or catching up and re-visiting favorites in the meantime?

I'll be back and ready to cook on March 16 -- although I may substitute an entirely different main dish for the Calves Liver (due for Menu 14). I believe I will face a mutiny if I serve Calves Liver to this household.

We haven't written Cordon Bleu poetry for a long time. Perhaps we could blog some for the next couple of weeks.

Hi Sisters -

I'm establishing a new category system, so that we can find old entries more easily and quickly. This seems a little more important now that one of us is out of step with the others (for unblameable reasons, no judgement is intended on my part) so that at a quick glance one might be able to pull all entries about a specific menu together to compare and contrast.

Thus, henceforward, would you label your post with the Menu number (i.e., "Menu #") (or numbers if you refer to more than one menu). And also (because maybe this will become relevant later) the main foodstuff you are writing about. It doesn't have to be exhaustive, just what is the important part of your entry. Also, feel free to add categories as necessary -- for instance, perhaps we need a "veal substitutions" category for the entries about veal vs. beef, pork and chicken.

For example, the Bride's latest entry might be labeled "Menu 11, Sole [or fish?], Choux pastry, Near Death Experience" (for the Geezer and Son, that is).

I will go back and over time amend the past entries so they aren't left out. I welcome any help on that task offered by sisters with a little time on their hands.

Baby Grows Up (Vivi)

Frankly, I hate being called Baby. So I'm changing my name. I've gone thru a bunch of alternatives, and have ended up with .... Vivi. It's a little used old Latin name, meaning "alive", which can be taken in its minimal sense (breathing, functioning), or in a more happy connotation (vivid, vivacious). And it's easy to type.

Anyway, that's my story, and I'm sticking with it.

Naming Bleus

Hey readers!

We are torn between naming the blog "HotDish Bleus" and "Bleus Sisters" (or Les Bleus Sisters). Please enter your vote in the poll off to the left (if you haven't already), and if you have a good reason for preferring one over the other, comment on it after this post.
This photo of us was taken last summer when we vacationed together in Italy (notice the lovely jasmine in the background). Bride is on the left, and Peaceable (or is it French?) is on the right. That leaves me in the middle, as usual.

Starting off - Messages amongst our authors

Hey, Sisters -- we have some few details to work out. I suggest we all post to the blog to see how it works and we can delete and/or rebuild later.

Format: You can see the one I picked. I like Cerulean's/EC's/Bride's too, which I happened across trying to find her google name. Here's a link to compare (use control-click and it'll open in a different window).

Title: I like Bride's title a little better, too -- or rather, I like "Le HotDish Bleus" the best, for all the layering.

Names: Unless we change our google identities, we will be SybBrig, Bride and Kate. We could of course all get additional google accounts (possibly we can get an alternative email address with our main one, that's commonly available but I haven't checked that possibility). I've temporarily changed to "Royal" to see how it looks/feels on me. It would be a pain to always be thinking about which Identity I have when I log in to various blogs. Or maybe a good thing to have them compartmentalized.

Or we could do this in WordPress -- possibly the whole naming thing is different there. I will check tomorrow.

Photos: We'll have to work out how photos work -- three pictures of roast chickens will get boring fast. I don't know that we can make a rule about that in advance -- we'll have to see how that works.

I'm sure there are many other things, but I drank a lot of wine with our meal, and I have to go to bed soon.
